At AVO, our goal is to meet you where you are, and we strive to offer approachable, delicious, and inclusive plant-based eats and drinks in our community. Our balanced approach to dining starts with sourcing the finest plant-based ingredients so that we can serve our customers an evolving yet nourishing experience. Our menu is 100% plant-based that features gluten-free, organic, and locally sourced offerings whenever possible. 

In addition to our role as a dining establishment, we also prioritize sustainability practices as part of our business operations while also supporting our community through initiatives for local nonprofit organizations. As an independent business, we believe that it is part of our responsibility to give back to our community in a meaningful way that will engage and support the vital work that makes our city so great.

ANNIE CHOO - OWNER & OPERATOR

In 2017, after years in the corporate marketing world, our Head Avocado In Charge, Annie, decided to take a leap of faith fueled by curiosity and passion to purchase AVO and hasn't looked back since. “AVO has shaped my life in a way that I could never have imagined and especially understanding why a plant-based lifestyle is an important aspect to living life with purpose, fully and healthily. My goal is to share the love of AVO by helping others to see that plant-based can be approachable and delicious.” Annie is happily married to Charles and is a new mom to a baby boy, Elliston, and a furmom to two Corgis, Peanut Butter and Ramen.

JAMES FORD - CHEF

AVO’s dedicated Chef, James Ford, is a Cincinnati native who migrated to in Nashville in 2003 and possesses over 20 years of experience in the service industry. Inspired by both his father’s cooking and mother’s baking at a young age, James started mixing cocktails and creating dishes for friends and family throughout his life. “I am passionate about all cultures with their inherent cuisines and am influenced by the practice of sharing moments, stories and laughs over great meals.” You can find James reading, writing stories, painting or watching movies with his cats Phoenix and Ember when he’s not in the kitchen.

CARSEN McDONALD- ASSISTANT MANAGER

Carsen has been working in restaurants since she was sixteen years old and has worked her way to being part of the AVO management team. “I am beyond grateful to have found AVO, both to be able to work in such a great environment and for the delicious food! While I am still learning so much, my goal is to make everyone who comes in the door fall a bit more in love with plant-based eating.” When she is not at AVO, you can find Carsen teaching yoga and playing outdoors with her puppy, Bug.
